You Have Questions
We have answers — in plain English, not legalese.
Divorce
An uncontested divorce can be final in about 60 days after the other spouse is served. Contested cases often take six months to a year, sometimes longer. We will give you a realistic timeline once we understand your situation.
No. Arizona is a no-fault state. The court only needs to find the marriage is irretrievably broken. You do not need to prove fault to get a divorce.
Legal separation divides property and sets rules for children just like a divorce, but the marriage does not legally end. Some choose it for insurance, religious, or financial reasons.
It varies widely depending on whether you settle or go to trial. We offer transparent billing and will discuss costs honestly at your consultation so there are no surprises.
Custody
No. Arizona law does not favor either parent based on gender. The court looks only at what is in the best interests of the child.
Legal decision-making is the right to make major choices for your child (school, health, religion). Parenting time is the actual schedule of when your child is with each parent. Arizona uses these terms instead of 'custody.'
A child's wishes may be considered if they are old enough and mature enough, but the judge makes the final decision based on the child's best interests — not the child's preference alone.
The court may order mediation first. If you still cannot agree, a judge will decide based on the child's best interests and the factors listed in Arizona law.
Costs & Process
Yes. Your first consultation is free and confidential, with no obligation. It's a chance for us to listen and for you to learn your options.
We explain our fee structure clearly at your consultation. You'll know what to expect before any work begins — no surprise bills.
Not necessarily. Most family law cases in Arizona settle without a trial. We always look for the gentlest path that still protects your interests.
Just yourself, and any questions you have. If you have relevant documents (a court order, a tax return), that's helpful, but not required for the first conversation.
Still Have Questions?
That's completely normal. Reach out — we're happy to talk it through, no pressure.
